![]() ![]() T ales of Symphonia deserves all of its accolades, but this version is really a reminder of why this franchise has seen multiple updates, and it feels like a huge step backward to jump in yet again outside from the narrative and nostalgia attached to the release. It’s just a shame that the core experience isn’t as immersive as it once was. The gem system in place is also satisfying, as building skill sets is fantastic and keeps the combat from feeling mundane or dull. Cooking adds a nice layer of depth to the game’s mechanics, and makes shopping feel meaningful and unique. With all the critique, I must say that there are still some original ideas that shine. They are both based on the crappy ps2 version of the game this is why the remastereds not. While they do this not asked for remaster they could bring graces f, symphonia 2, xilkia 1 & 2 and abyss to steam. TALES OF SYMPHONIA REMASTERED is an enhanced version of Tales of Symphonia the fifth game in our core Tales of series of role-playing games which launched on the Nintendo GameCube in 2003 in Japan, and 2004 worldwide. I love older RPGs and played this title in original state on the Gamecube quite a bit back in the day, but from the menus to the sluggish battles, there is no doubt its ready for an overhaul to truly earn its “remaster” status, as this isn’t quite that. Sure, this was in the original, but two decades have passed and seeing updates like we do with the likes of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy in terms of design would have kept this experience feeling richer and more enjoyable. Classic JRPG Tales of Symphonia is getting a re-release on modern consoles. Battling is fine, but overworld enemies are represented by generic black blobs, skulls, and other sprites that kind of make the experience feel rushed. As remasters have gotten more common, the expectations over quality-of-life improvements and updates have gone up. New features include the ability to load cleared Tales of Symphonia game data to receive extra items or Gald at the beginning of the game. Slow loading times, the battle intro animation no longer. The real issue with Tales of Symphonia Remastered is that outside of bringing a classic Tales Of JRPG to modern consoles, it doesn’t really do much else. This remaster seems to have all the same issues as the Chronicles release, plus some more problems.
